Job Title: Calibration & Test TechnicianDepartment: OperationsReporting To: Production Team LeaderMarket Sectors: Naval Defence, Maritime & Marine Science & TechnologyRole Overview:The Calibration & Test Technician is a key member of the Production Team, responsible for calibrating sensors and instruments. Additionally, this role involves the inspection and triage of returned products requiring service, repair, and calibration. The role requires the candidate to hold a UK passport (non-dual) and be capable of gaining National Security Vetting - SC clearance.Qualifications:
- BSc or equivalent in a Science-based discipline (2:1 or higher).
Essential Skills:Calibration:
- Calibrate sensors according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintain quality standards for calibration procedures and sensors.
- Ensure calibration procedures are regularly updated.
- Produce and maintain calibration reports.
- Assist in the development of new calibration procedures for new sensors.
- Support the development of calibration tests and experiments for both new and existing sensors.
Production:7. Inspect and triage returned sensors to identify issues requiring repair before service or calibration.8. Produce and maintain triage and inspection reports.9. Conduct testing (including pressure testing) of sensors and assemblies in line with test specifications.General:10. Maintain laboratories (stock levels, hygiene, etc.) ensuring compliance with current standards.11. Maintain COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) paperwork.12. Support new and existing research and development projects within the company.13. Complete working order operations in accordance with the specified delivery time and date.14. Follow all departmental administrative procedures, including supporting documentation (e.g., test results, calibration certificates).15. Utilize company IT resources (e.g., Intranet, MRP system) to support day-to-day activities, such as parts inquiries and stock searches.Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of fault finding.
- Experience/skills with general test instrumentation for measurement and analysis (e.g., oscilloscopes, DVMs, power supplies, etc.).
