Are you passionate about protecting trees and shaping the natural environment? We are looking for a Tree Officer to join our local authority planning team and play a vital role in conserving and managing trees across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and process applications for works to trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and within Conservation Areas (CAs).Prepare reports, make recommendations, and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines.Issue and update new TPOs, conduct surveys, and manage objections.Support planning enforcement in investigating unauthorized tree works or hedgerow removals.Provide expert arboricultural advice on planning applications, enforcement cases, and policy development.Represent the Council at appeals, hearings, and public meetings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong understanding of tree protection legislation and planning policies.
  • Experience in arboricultural assessment, report writing, and enforcement.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to various stakeholders
  • A relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or Environmental Planning.
