Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join the team. The ideal candidate will be a mid to experienced level Estimator with 5-10 years of experience, ideally from a medium-sized business. This senior role will involve not only pricing work but also mentoring junior staff, helping to build and grow the Estimating team. This position offers flexibility with remote working, with the expectation of being in the Yeovil office 1-2 times per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the estimation process for fit-out projects across a range of sectors including retail, leisure, commercial, education, healthcare, and public sector.
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for tenders.
Review and analyse project documentation, drawings, and specifications to assess project requirements.
Work with Bluebeam to create take-offs and work with Excel to develop detailed pricing.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
Demonstrate strong business acumen and entrepreneurial thinking to ensure successful project pricing.
Mentor and support junior Estimators, helping them develop their skills and grow within the company.
Manage multiple projects at once, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are priced effectively.
Work collaboratively with project managers, senior management, and other teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Estimating department.
Key Requirements:
5-10 years of experience as an Estimator, ideally within a medium-sized contracting business.
Experience in fit-out projects across retail, leisure, commercial, education, healthcare, or public sector sectors.
Strong experience with Bluebeam software for take-offs and pricing.
Proficiency in Excel and other relevant estimating tools.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with suppliers and clients.
Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial background.
Comfortable mentoring junior team members and providing guidance.
Flexibility to work remotely, with occasional travel to the Yeovil office (1-2 times per month).
Desirable:
Experience working on projects for blue-chip clients.
Knowledge of current rates within the fit-out industry.
Ability to influence and drive change within the Estimating team.
