A family-owned animal feed manufacturer, looking to recruit an additional Press Operator to work within our current team, the role will be based at our mill in Yeovil. This is a full-time permanent role, as part of a well-established team in the manufacturing process.

This role is critical to ensure that feed in the mill is produced to meet company and customer requirements.

The Role
This Press Operator role is a full time, permanent, on a shift rota of:
Nights: Sunday 8pm to Saturday 6am
Days: Monday 6am to Saturday 2pm
Lates: Monday 2pm to Friday 10pm

Overall Job Objective

To control the manufacture of finished Compound/Blended products to both Company and recognised industry standards.

Typical Duties

  • Supervision of bulk material intake and correct designation to appropriate bins.
  • Minimise finished product out of stock situations, particularly main lines.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of minerals/supplements and to notify any potential shortages.
  • Ensuring correct hand-tipped additives are incorporated, recorded and completion of Production Schedule to record batch number of supplement used. Stock rotation of all hand additive minerals
  • Monitoring quality of product at regular intervals throughout the manufacturing process, including physical quality of finished product.
  • Ensuring finished product bins are completely empty to re-fill and to record on production schedule. Allocation and recording of finished product to designated bins.
  • Carry out basic maintenance including press greasing and lubrication.
  • Adjustment of pellet mill rollers weekly to ensure efficiency of the machine and assist with die/roller changes.
  • Setting up of recipe Press Profiles to ensure the highest quality and consistency of feed is maintained.
