Community Support Worker  LOCATION:               Dorchester HOURS:                     40 – Mon – Fri 8.30 – 5pmSALARY:                   £14.56 PAYE - £16.02 umbrellaDURATION:  6 weeks+START DATE:           24/02/26 Executive Summary: Our client is recruiting for a temporary Support Worker to support their older person clients in accessing their benefits & providing welfare advice within the community! The Community Worker role focuses on supporting people who are experiencing accommodation issues, poverty, social isolation, and poor physical health. The service intends to improve peoples’ independence and long-term health and wellbeing.

  • Provide person-centred support to people tailored to their needs, working with the person to develop resilience and self-advocacy.
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory services including but not limited to Hospitals, CMHTs, Substance Misuse Teams &Healthcare professionals
  • Work with clients that may have issues such as mixed mental health, substance misuse, abusive/ offending behaviour that may be exacerbating or causing a situation.
  • Act as an advocate for people who are at risk of eviction/court action/notice to quit.
  • Support people to ensure they maximise their income through accurate benefit support advocating for people in relation to any claims that are queried or stalled.
  • Support clients to maintain their independence, for example digital support and equipment, Technology Enabled Care, Community Equipment.
 Preferred Qualifications
  • A driver with access to a car – essential
  • A qualification in Social Services, Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of housing benefits
  • An in date DBS check
