Financial Controller

York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority are seeking a financial controller or similar senior finance professional to join them to assist with establishing and developing their financial processes and reporting.

The role will be on a hybrid basis in Northallerton or York and will ideally start as soon as possible.

Essential upon appointment

Knowledge

You have a finely tuned understanding of how professional standards should be applied in order to ensure high standards of probity and organisational effectiveness.

You lead the organisation in ensuring that there is a sound financial strategy in place You critically evaluate the deployment of resources across the board and actively shape future direction.

High level Excel skills.

Experience

Demonstrable management or leadership experience in a relevant role.

Experience of leading budgeting cycles.

Strong technical accounting skills including experience of consolidation or business combination.

Experience of working successfully with partners, both internal and external to achieve common goals.

You commission financial systems and work alongside other system stakeholders to ensure the organisation joins up its business intelligence.

You have experience of a range of techniques to make improvements to services and drive forward performance.

You have personally led improvement of services and delivered significant benefits and improved outcomes for the organisation.

Experience of working in local government and knowledge of the CIPFAs Code of Practice and the Prudential Code for Capital Finance in Local Authorities.

Experience of working in a political environment.
