SALARY- £50,000 to £60,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Manager to join our clients team in York. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented design team in developing innovative solutions for a wide range of engineering projects.
The Mechanical Design Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
- Extensive experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (BEng, MEng, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) principles
- Experience in managing and mentoring a team of engineers
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Leading and managing the mechanical design team to deliver high-quality designs on time and within budget
- Overseeing the development of 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation
- Ensuring designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and quality assurance
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and allocating resources effectively
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement within the design process
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
