We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier/Accounts Manager for a busy high street solicitors practice based in York.

Full-time or part-time/ job share will be considered.

You will be responsible for managing financial transactions within a legal firm, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal accounting standards. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your core skills in accounting software will be essential for maintaining records and processing accounts payable. Proficiency in premium tools such as , Sage, and will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Your attention to detail and relevant skills will contribute to the firm's financial integrity and support its overall operational success. Join us to play a vital role in our financial team.

Key tasks will include:

  • Bookkeeping and accounts maintenance in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules, Quality Procedures Manual and Lexcel requirements.
  • Daily administration of income and expenditure to and from the firm’s accounts
  • Banking including reconciliation in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Proper maintenance and secure storage of confidential financial information including statements of the firm’s bank and other accounts
  • Control and balancing of petty cash
  • Producing monthly fee earner client matter printouts and liaising with fee earners in relation to query balances
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries
  • Dealing with incoming accounts related correspondence
  • Ensure all day-end procedures are properly conducted
  • File archiving and monitoring payment of accounts
  • Staff payroll
  • Management of undertakings

Qualifications

  • Ideally Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) diploma, covering bookkeeping and legal finance compliance
  • Proficient in accounting software
  • Experience with accounts payable processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
