SRG are working with a well-established company that supply ingredients and raw materials to the pet food manufacturing industry. They are seeking to hire a Microbiology Analyst on a permanent basis, to join their team based in East Yorkshire. This exciting and newly created role will involve supporting in the set up of a newly created department offering clients more scope to suit growing needs across multiple industries, including microbiology analysis and PCR testing. Candidates that have recent, proven industrial experience of developing and validating methods in qPCR testing, alongside other microbiology analysis are encouraged to apply.

Benefits: A successful and well-established company currently going through a period of growth, in a newly created role and department. 20 days' holiday allowance, plus bank holidays and company pension scheme. 40 working hours per week, Monday - Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm.

Role / Description

  • Support in the set up of a newly created department
  • Lead the method development and validation of qPCR testing within the company
  • Develop and write SOPs
  • Complete Microbiology analysis (plating, counting colonies, preparing media etc.)
  • Calibrate instrumentation as and when needed
  • Support the wider analytical team when required

Requirements

  • Degree in Microbiology (or similar) preferred
  • Proven industrial experience of qPCR (real time PCR) including method development and method validation
  • Proven industrial experience of other microbiology analysis (plating, counting colonies, preparing media)
  • Experience or working knowledge of UKAS 17025 is also highly desirable
