Position: Ornithologist
Location: Derby/York
Salary: 23,000 - 32,000 (DOE)
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy, specialising in areas such as masterplanning, urban design, landscape architecture, environmental assessments, ecology, arboriculture, and green infrastructure, is looking for an Ornithologist to join their York or Derby team.

Ornithologist Responsibilities:
As an Ornithologist, you will work closely with Ecologists, Landscape Architects, and Design Planners. Your role will include:
- Leading and conducting ornithological surveys
- Collecting and analysing data, conducting desk-based research, and preparing technical reports
- Experience with Ecological Impact Assessments and Shadow Habitats Regulations Assessments is advantageous
- Supporting additional ecological surveys, such as those for water voles, otters, badgers, bats, and various habitats
- Providing ecological and ornithological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams
- Mentoring colleagues interested in ornithology, supporting their professional development
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
Ornithologist Requirements
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Strong bird identification skills and experience with ornithological survey techniques
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
