Role & Client Overview:
Our client is a leading provider of education, training, and employability services, dedicated to supporting rehabilitation and helping individuals develop key vocational skills. They are currently looking for an Industrial Cleaning Manager to deliver BiCS (British Institute of Cleaning Science) training within a prison environment at HMP Millsike.
This is an exciting opportunity to equip prisoners with practical cleaning skills, including biohazard handling, to support their employability upon release. You will also play a key role in promoting literacy and personal development, making a real impact on rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver BiCS Training: Provide high-quality cleaning instruction to prepare prisoners for employment in hygiene services, with a focus on health and safety compliance, including COSHH regulations.
- Induct Prisoners to the Cleaning Academy: Lead comprehensive training on academy policies, safe equipment use, and emergency procedures.
- Tailor Learning for Individual Needs: Adapt teaching methods to support diverse learning styles, working closely with learning support practitioners.
- Promote Literacy and Employability: Integrate reading resources and job readiness skills into the cleaning curriculum, helping prisoners build a foundation for long-term success.
- Encourage Restorative Practices: Foster peer collaboration, self-responsibility, and a positive learning environment to aid rehabilitation.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
- BiCS (British Institute of Cleaning Science) certification or equivalent cleaning qualification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH compliance.
- Experience in vocational training, teaching, or coaching, ideally within a prison, correctional, or rehabilitative setting.
- Strong communication, organisational, and adaptability skills.
- A commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
Desirable:
- Experience in employability training or practical skills development.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a training or cleaning environment.
- Recognised teaching qualification such as PTLLS, AET, CET, or equivalent. or willingness to work towards.
