Here, you will play a key part in the day-to-day management of an allocation of commercial accounts. These can be tweaked to suit your skills, experiences and ambitions, and the team looks after cases from a range of sectors such as Property Owners, Manufacturing, Motor Trade, Hospitality and the professions. This includes relatively straight-forward risks with modest premium spends, through to much more complex business with global exposures.
Developing a deep knowledge of your clients’ businesses and the risks they face, you will ensure that their insurance programme reflects their appetite for risk and, should gaps in cover exist, you’ll suggest innovative ways to mitigate these. Working in close conjunction with Account Executives and Directors, you will be responsible for making mid-term amendments, answering general enquiries, dealing with renewals and any associated policy administration.
Whilst it is not essential that you have previously dealt with middle-market or corporate insurance programmes, it is a prerequisite that you have some commercial insurance knowledge and an understanding of common covers. Needless to say, exposure to more complex risks would add weight to your application, and this would naturally be reflected in the salary achieved! You must also have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and be able to build a sound, professional rapport with clients from a variety of sectors.
