Company Overview:
The company is a manufacturer of turnkey solutions for a wide variety of projects including displays, model making and interactive displays. They provide a range of clients including multiple museums, the Royal Armories and Chatsworth House.
The company has been established since 2019 and ever since its inception has witnessed consistent growth. The order book for 2025 is already full and it is predicted that the company turnover will rise by another 25% this year alone.
The role:
With the company going through another period of growth and having another busy year scheduled, they are looking to add a Workshop Manager to take control of the management of the shop floor. They will also be tasked with liaising with the design team and ensuring the production team is on track and has everything in place to carry out the required work. The Workshop Manager will work closely with the Project Managers to ensure that all timescales are met.
The company has seen a very low turnover of staff ever since its establishment, with a lot of employees in the business being here from day one. The Workshop Manager will work closely with the current Operations Manager, who currently overseas shop floor Production, and will be put in the best position to allow them to really make this role their own. The teams you will be tasked with managing include the joinery team, the model making team and the engineering team.
The variety and unique nature of all their projects means that no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities for this role:
- Resource Planning and re-allocating resources as and when required
- Take a leading role in chairing Production Meetings
- Promote Health and Safety culture through demonstratable knowledge and experience within this field.
- Meet with the design and technical team to contribute and understand fully the brief, client requirements and the designers intent
- Identify and report to the Project Manager areas of change throughout the project which may affect costs and program
- Be responsible for and ensure all exhibits meet Unusual Projects high quality standards
- Undertake the scheduling of all production and installation works and team members and report any issues or concerns
- Monitor staff timesheet and authorize
- Ensure the correct provision and maintenance of machines and equipment to meet production schedules
- Participate in post-project reviews
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of H&S practices within an engineering environment
- People Management skills
- Experience leading production meetings
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and timescales
Desirable experience:
- Estimating experience
- Basic level of in-house trades (e.g. joinery)
