About the role

NFU Mutual are seeking an experienced people manager to join us, overseeing our High Net Worth Underwriting department.

The High Net Worth (know internally as Bespoke) insurance market is a key market segment where NFU Mutual is looking to continue to invest and grow, supporting our strategy to specialise in niche markets by delivering a compelling customer proposition and experience.

The main responsibilities of this high-profile role are to lead the delivery of first class customer service and quality to meet the underwriting needs of our customers through the NFUM tied agency network.

You will lead and facilitate the implementation of people management practices, including talent and succession planning, engagement and ways of working that will ensure effective resourcing, development, team management, attitudes and behaviours to deliver objectives and first-class service.

You will be responsible for directly managing 3 Team Leaders and oversee a department of circa 50 colleagues.

You will work collaboratively with our Head Office teams and NFU Mutual Agents, to provide good business and customer outcomes and achieve our High Net Worth ambitions.

Our teams are based across York and Bristol and so the role can be based from either of these sites depending on your location. We offer hybrid homeworking, which will allow you to work from home 60% of the time.

About you

You will also have experience of leading a team, managing operations, delivering continuous improvement and a passion for developing others

You will have experience of leading and managing in a customer focused and performance driven environment and a track record of successfully delivering goals and objectives.

Ideally, the successful candidate will come from an established High Net Worth or Private Clients underwriting background with a demonstrable and in-depth understanding of the market. The role will predominantly focus on High Net Worth. However, this isn’t a pre-requisite so we would love to hear from you if you have transferrable skills that you believe will make you successful in this role.

Customer minded with strong leadership skills, you will have the ability to interact with various stakeholders, partnered with the credibility and confidence to really challenge and influence decisions and ways of working.

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.

We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.

We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
