We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services, for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the established team within an independent mental health hospital in York.

The hospital is 112 bedded, medium secure hospital in the beautiful City of York and they exclusively treat NHS patients and work closely with their NHS colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for patients. They work in partnership with the Humber and North Yorkshire Provider Collaborate as part of the local Integrated Care Board.

The hospital team pride themselves on valuing the contributions of every team member and in working in partnership with their patients. The genuine team spirit and support for one another makes it a fantastic place to work. Consultant colleagues at the hospital have a collective experience of working there of about 45 years, and has been traditionally a place of longer stay and positive well-being experience.

They offer a wide range of specialist services including; mental illness, neurodevelopmental disorder, learning disability and female medium secure services. Treatment is facilitated by a well-resourced, multi-disciplinary group of clinicians. Their psychology, occupational, social work and physical wellness provision provides a wide range of opportunities for their patients.

The LD and A services of Stockton Hall were accredited by the prestigious National Autistic society in November 2023; demonstrating our commitment to be the best in class.

You will be part of a newly refurbished building on a brand new ward, purpose built for female secure patients. The caseload is for 12 women and you will have the full support of the non-medical prescribers and Residential doctors providing input and admin team to assist you in managing these patients.

What you need

We are seeking a full time Consultant Psychiatrist for our medium secure women’s service, with 12 women.

  • You will fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients.
  • You must hold a CCT, or equivalent, in Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Meet regulatory requirements, such as GMC registration and revalidation.
  • Have experience working with women in a secure service
  • The role will include participation in our on call rota (none residential).
