Adecco property services specialist division north is delighted to be partnering exclusively with Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust in recruiting for a permanent Health and Safety Officer to work in their offices in York area.PurposeThe postholder will work within the Health and Safety Team to deliver occupational health and safety across all group operations in line with the HASAWA 1974 to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are achieved across the Group. This role reports into the head of health and safety.Duties* Contribute to and deliver on key health and safety objectives and projects in line with the Health and Safety Team's annual plan to ensure the Team is advising on, developing, and promoting a positive and compliant health and safety culture consistent with current legislation.* Using current and proven methods, the officer will make recommendations and develop solutions to simple and complex problems within your scope of competence to minimise exposure of non-compliance with legislation.* Continuous review of and adherence to all health and safety arrangements and processes to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation as well as acting as a role model for the organisation* Develop and implement monitoring of health and safety activities and documentation across the business* Provide support and technical advice to managers to enable them to maintain safe working practices and conditions, inclusive of accident/incident investigations and operational reporting obligations* Use various communication styles /techniques to deliver effective health and safety information for stakeholders to have a clear understanding upon legislation, policies and expected standards.* Design, delivery and review of training materials to enhance and build upon health and safety knowledge across all areas of the business.* Develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, represent the Health and Safety Team at meetings and influence approaches to a positive health and safety culture.* Support the compliance and health and safety tasks required to ensure The Garth, Tanners Yard and other offices are managed effectively, such as Fire Drills, operational health and safety processes and completion of accurate documentation.Candidate requirements* Experience working in a Health and Safety environment previously within social housing or the Public Sector with knowledge of social housing regulations and standards.* A health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH general certificate, Environmental Health or any qualification related to the field.* Willingness to develop experience in particular fields of health and safety such as construction, fire and COSHH.* Full UK driving licence.* The candidate must be customer focused, ensure integrity, and respect within workplace environment, and take accountability for actions.* Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and able to adapt easily Salary and benefits* £35,744.80 annual salary* Excellent defined contribution pension scheme with employer contributions of 6%* 37 h work/week* Flexible working options -hybrid * 33 days holidays (incl. bank holidays) - plus option to buy or sell more.* Discount packages with over 800 retailers e.g. shopping, utilities, and leisure* Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay.* Health care cash plan* Low-cost employee loans & saving accounts with Leeds Credit Union* Cycle to work schemes.* Employee Assistance programme (giving completely confidential care, support, and advice when you need it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.)* Season Ticket Travel Loan* Give as you earn scheme.* Eye care vouchers* Free on site parking* Excellent training and developmentFor additional information and applications please contact Cristina Baraganu at or by email at
