SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: Immediately / April 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £88 – £105 per day
GSL Education is seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in York. This is a full-time position, ideal for individuals with experience supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
- Help students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and confidence-building.
- Support teachers in delivering tailored learning plans to engage students.
- Assist in developing social skills and promoting independence.
- Work within a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to positive outcomes for students.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour.
- Backgrounds in youth work, support work, mental health, psychology, sports coaching, or the care sector are highly valued.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
