The Role:
As a System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing the organisation's on-premise infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. You'll also have the opportunity to develop automation scripts, support CI/CD pipelines, and work with cloud platforms, giving you hands-on exposure to DevOps methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, security updates).
- Maintain and support Linux-based systems, troubleshooting and performing user management.
- Monitor infrastructure health, using tools such as PRTG, Grafana, or Nagios.
- Network administration, covering IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Ensure security best practices, including system patching and access control.
- Automate system processes using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Maintain virtualised environments using VMware and vSphere.
- Support CI/CD workflows and automation, with exposure to tools like Azure DevOps.
- Contribute to infrastructure as code (IaC) initiatives with Terraform or Ansible.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to enhance system performance and reliability.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory management.
- Basic knowledge of Linux system administration.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (PRTG, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Understanding of security best practices (patching, access controls, compliance).
- Exposure to automation, CI/CD, and cloud technologies is highly desirable.
