Senior Town Planner

An award-winning multidisciplinary practice is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join their growing team in their York office. The practice is known for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across architecture, planning, and design, working on a diverse range of high-profile projects in sectors such as residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
About the Role:
- Lead a variety of planning projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
- Provide expert planning advice and guidance to clients throughout the planning process.
- Manage and mentor junior staff, fostering their development and providing support.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and Local Plan representations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities and partners.
- Play an active role in business development, identifying new project opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead planning projects, managing all aspects of the planning process.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and Local Plan representations.
- Advise clients on planning strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and development opportunities.
- Manage relationships with clients, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the growth and expansion of the planning services offered by the practice.
- Support business development efforts and help identify new project opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate:
- 4+ years of experience as a Town Planner, ideally within a planning consultancy or similar environment.
- Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.
- Proven track record in leading planning projects and managing client relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
- Strong knowledge of planning processes, policies, and regulations.
- Proactive, with strong project management and problem-solving skills.
