Spencer Clarke Group are working with a local authority in North Yorkshire who are looking for an experienced Fleet Management Consultant to support them through a period of transformation. This is a 6-month assignment focusing on evaluating, restructuring, and improving their fleet services to enhance efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.

This is a hands-on role where you will lead on the day-to-day management of fleet teams and workshop staff while also delivering a strategic transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with fleet teams, senior management, and key stakeholders to assess challenges and opportunities.
  • Advise and support the restructure of the fleet service.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of fleet staff and workshops.
  • Ensure full compliance with O-License, driver regulations, and health & safety.
  • Develop a vehicle replacement plan, including budgeting.
  • Support the development of a fleet decarbonisation plan.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and drive efficiencies.
  • Manage pool cars and vehicle workshops.

About You

  • Significant operational experience in fleet management, with strong technical knowledge.
  • A proven track record in delivering fleet transformation projects.
  • Experience in senior leadership roles, working with key stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet compliance, health & safety, and best practices.
  • Experience in public sector/local authority fleet services is desirable.
