White Label are proud to be working with a key client and a leading engineering business based in the York area in their search for a Mechanical Engineer!

Are you a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer/Mechanical Engineer looking to take your career to the next level? This is an exceptional opportunity to join a leading engineering business that delivers innovative, bespoke projects to global clients across a variety of exciting industries.

You’ll be working on one-of-a-kind designs within the creative sector, contributing to high-profile projects spanning the architectural, construction, exhibition, and live event fields. No two projects are the same, providing a dynamic and stimulating work environment.

The role will involve conceptual design of stage, performance and special machines to meet client concepts or specifications.

Key Responsibilities would include but not limited to:

  • Conceptual design of stage, performance and special machines to meet client concepts or specifications
  • Undertake, update and review design risk assessments
  • Produce or supervise creation of conceptual models in Autodesk Inventor including FEA.
  • Develop designs and produce engineered solutions with supporting calculations and analysis to achieve better than regulatory standards and guidelines including Eurocodes, Machinery Directive, CDM Regulations and Entertainment Technology - Machinery for Stages and CE/UKCA Standards
  • Select and verify third party products to integrate into machines
  • Check engineering solutions, calculations and drawings of other designers.
  • With project managers ensure machines are built and tested to design and standards
  • Produce testing schedules and witness and or verify tests including factory tests and site commissioning
  • Act as design lead on single and multi-disciplined projects as and when required
  • Liaise with other members of the project team and the client and other stakeholders to achieve a coordinated engineering solution that meets the defined objectives
  • Produce or supervise production of technical documentation
  • Project cost control and effective management of project resources
  • Ensure that quality and consistency of output (drawings, reports, calcs etc.) is always maintained
  • Assist in the development of processes to improve efficiency and project delivery
  • Mentor and develop junior team members

The Person:

  • Minimum HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in Mechanical Calculations
  • You must have experience in designing in these products or industries - special purpose machinery, conveyors, material/mechanical handling equipment, automated machinery, heavy engineering, structural, cranes, etc 
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or similar 3D design software (SolidWorkds, Solidedge, etc)
  • Ability to work using own initiative but also work well as team

Salary & Benefits:

  •  Competitive Salary: £30,000 - £55,000, depending on experience.
  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday (flexible start times, 8 am - 5 pm or 7:30 am - 4:30 pm).
