Payroll Analyst

About the Role:
We are seeking a Payroll Analyst to join the Finance team at an exciting time of growth and transformation for this specialist insurance business. In this role, you will take ownership of the end to end payroll process and drive process improvements, ensuring that financial operations are efficient and effective.
This position offers the chance to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including HR, Finance, external advisors and make a meaningful impact on the organisation’s success.
Key Responsibilities:
- End to End Payroll Management: Take full responsibility for the monthly in house payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with company policies and legal requirements including tax and benefits deductions.
- Data Collaboration: Partner with HR and the SaaS service provider to ensure accurate employee data and payroll information.
- Reconciliation and Compliance: Maintain accurate payroll records, verify payroll data and ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations. Reconcile payroll journal entries with the general ledger and support the Finance team in ensuring accuracy.
- Problem Solving: Respond to and resolve payroll and tax related inquiries from employees and management.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging external insights and best practices.
- Reporting and Audits: Create and run ad hoc, audit and control pre and post payroll reports to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Cross Functional Projects: Support Finance and organisational projects relevant to payroll and financial operations.
Person Specification:
We are looking for a confident and detail oriented individual with the following qualifications and skills:
- Qualifications: CIPP qualified with 2+ years of post qualification experience, preferably within either insurance or financial services
- Technical Expertise: Proven end to end in house payroll experience with a strong understanding of payroll processes, tax laws and payroll software.
- Data and Analysis: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse and manage high volumes of data with exceptional attention to detail.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills and the ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Proactive and self driven, with the ability to use initiative and work independently or as part of a team.
- Control Mindset: Experience in maintaining strong controls and compliance in financial operations.
