Robert Half is partnering with a York-based client to recruit a Payroll Clerk for a short-term contract role lasting one month. This flexible hybrid position requires 1-2 days per week in the office. The client is seeking someone who is available to start immediately and offers a competitive hourly rate of £15 - £17 per hour.
Key Duties:* Accurately process monthly payroll for employees, ensuring timely and correct payments.* Manage pension auto-enrolment tasks, ensuring all related activities are completed in compliance with legal requirements.* Review and process employee expense claims and mileage submissions, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax regulations.* Work with the Payroll Team Leader to stay updated on payroll legislation changes and ensure adherence to HMRC guidelines.* Assist with tax returns, pension contributions, and deductions in accordance with necessary regulations.* Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.* Collaborate closely with managers to ensure all payroll information is collected accurately and submitted on time.
Requirements:* Previous payroll experience.* Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and tax rules, including handling expenses and benefits.* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
