A well-established Yorkshire law firm with a history spanning over 200 years is seeking a Risk and Compliance Officer to play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and managing risk across the organisation. This is an exciting new position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the firm's operations while working closely with teams across all departments.
The Role
This position is crucial in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, safeguarding both the firm's interests and those of its clients. The ideal candidate will act as a central resource for compliance matters, ensuring the firm adheres to best practices in risk management, AML, GDPR, and client onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling all aspects of compliance across multiple offices
- Conducting risk assessment training workshops and fostering a culture of compliance
- Leading internal reviews, audits, and monitoring case files
- Managing SRA audits and regulatory requirements
- Drafting and updating company policies in line with government and legal guidelines
- Overseeing and providing strategic guidance on AML, CDD, GDPR, and sanctions frameworks
- Acting as Client Services Manager, handling client-related complaints
- Managing GDPR compliance and all data protection matters
- Supervising the onboarding process for new clients and employees
- Delivering training sessions on risk and compliance for all staff
- Evaluating and implementing compliance systems and software
- Leading and managing a small onboarding team
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in risk and compliance within a legal or professional services environment
- Strong knowledge of AML, CDD, GDPR, and SRA regulations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and support teams
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and risk management
- Experience in policy drafting, internal audits, and complaint handling
- Ability to lead and manage a small team effectively
