The Role
The Manufacturing Industries Instructor will support the prison education system at a state of the art, carbon neutral prison development in Yorkshire (HMP Millsike). You will play a proactive role in supporting training and education for prisoners in a workshop environment learning invaluable skills for manufacturing and engineering alongside a wide appreciation of supply chain and quality control techniques used in manufacturing.
The Manufacturing Industries Instructor will develop and manage schedules of work for the workshop, considering aspects such as resource planning, skills development and availability and working to the highest standard of health and safety.
You will support accurate record keeping of the manufacturing work and training records alongside managing the workshop stock and equipment inventories. You will work in close partnership with the prison education and leadership team to ensure the most effective and positive learning outcomes for the workshop attendees. This role is conducted on a four and a half day per week basis, with four full days and one-half day per week.
The Person
The Manufacturing Industries Instructor will possess proven experience of working in a manufacturing workshop environment including aspects such as mechanical or electrical assembly, measure and inspection of products, quality checking and responsibility for materials and equipment inventories on site.
No formal teaching or training qualification is needed for the position, this role is rooted harnessing the skills used daily in the manufacturing and engineering sectors to provide the most relevant and accurate learning experiences within the prison workshop.
Excellent communication skills and an awareness of adapting your experience to different environment blended with the same skills you developed in your manufacturing career is key to this position.
