GSL Education are seeking a qualified, inspiring and motivational Maths Teacher to work on a part-time basis to cover maternity leave at a Client Secondary School located in York, North Yorkshire for a January 2025 start.

  • There is a committed group of people at the school who include a Pastoral Mentor who assists students with social and emotional challenges, an Autism Champion who works primarily with children with autism, and a nurturing Practitioner who oversees our Year 7 nurturing group.

Teacher of Maths Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering Maths to Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for all areas of teaching, with access to specialist facilities and up to date technology.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Encourage students to participate in class discussions, work independently, as well as in groups.
  • Ensure all lessons are accessible to students including those with Autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
  • Take part in staff training days, staff meetings and parent’s evenings.

Teacher of Maths Requirements:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have recent experience teaching GCSE Maths in an education setting, preferably in secondary school setting.
  • Be able to provide 2 professional references, relating to your teaching within the last 2 years. Placements will be accepted for ECTs.
  • Be keen to partake in continuous professional development and share best practice across departments.
  • You must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
