Senior Project Manager Job Summary

Pacific Shipyards International (PSI), the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, is seeking a highly qualified Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic Project Management Team. The PM will be responsible for managing and executing commercial and military ship repair contracts ranging from $1M to $100M. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the successful planning, coordination, execution, and completion of complex ship repair projects. The Senior Project Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Programs and work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive project success in a fast-paced, maritime environment.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on all project-related matters
  • Lead and supervise assigned project management staff
  • Manage all aspects of ship repair projects from initiation through completion
  • Ensure projects are executed on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Coordinate contract changes and ensure timely implementation
  • Interface with vessel stakeholders, including owners, contractors, engineers, and production teams
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and work breakdown structures
  • Conduct regular production meetings, customer updates, and executive briefings
  • Identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, federal contract requirements, and safety protocols
  • Review technical documents, specifications, and drawings to plan and direct work
  • Monitor project performance and prepare progress reports
  • Support quality assurance and EHS compliance throughout the life of the project

Senior Project Manager Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in ship repair or marine industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, preferably with federal/military contracts
  • Proven experience with project scheduling, sequencing, and resource coordination
  • Strong knowledge of government contracting, including federal acquisition processes
  • Familiarity with Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) and shipboard tag-out procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project (or equivalent)
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret complex specifications, technical manuals, and blueprints

Senior Project Manager  Preferred Position Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and provide proof of legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC and DBIDS credential for Navy base access
  • Must pass a post-offer drug screening and background check
  • Must possess a valid State of Hawaii driver’s license (Class 3 or higher) in good standing
