Capacity Building Expert

Overview:

The Capacity Building Expert will have strong skills in capacity development of local and international organizations. This position provides support in strengthening the capacity of USAID staff, local partners, and implementing partners. This position will design and implement technical and organizational capacity assessments, design and implement capacity building plans, summarize and present finding and recommendations, provide training and mentoring to stakeholders, and support the management and coordination of all related activities. This position is resident in Peru.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who will bring experience coordinating with government entities, partner organizations, and program stakeholders, and the ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Capacity Development, International Affairs, Social Science, or another related field
  • Master's Degree in a related field with less hands-on experience will be considered
  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience related to organizational capacity building
  • Experience working with USAID, including coordination and facilitation of MEL and CLA capacity building initiatives
  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills in various aspects of organizational development
  • Experience providing technical support to MEL initiatives and platforms
  • Experience designing and/or facilitating technical training and capacity-building initiatives, including designing and implementing capacity assessments and developing capacity development plans
  • Experience engaging experts across technical areas in the development of organizational capacity programs to strengthen capacities in systems strengthening, technical areas (economics, health, agriculture, etc.), service delivery, quality improvement, and policy development
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and/or coaching staff in project development, project implementation, and M&E, as well as facilitating and creating organizational learning opportunities
  • Experience integrating gender and social inclusion
  • Proven ability to manage a team of staff and consultants who may sometimes not be reporting directly to the position and ensure timely and quality submission of project deliverables
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Experience:

  • Experience working on USAID and/or other donor funded programs in Peru
  • Demonstrated experience with gender and social inclusion or experience in protection programming
