Dry Dock Master Job Summary

A leading maritime repair and new construction facility in Rhode Island is seeking an experienced Dry Dock Master to oversee docking, undocking, and vessel handling operations. This critical role ensures all procedures comply with safety, operational, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with floating dry docks, strong leadership skills, and expertise in engineering and docking software.

Dry Dock Master Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute docking and undocking operations for various floating dry docks.
  • Ensure compliance with dry dock certificates, NAVSEA standards, and safety regulations.
  • Analyze tidal, weather, and environmental conditions to optimize docking procedures.
  • Lead and manage dock crews, conducting safety meetings and operational planning.
  • Oversee dry dock maintenance, pier infrastructure, mooring arrangements, and vessel repairs.
  • Assist in vessel repair operations, including mooring arrangements and ship services.
  • Develop strategic plans for new build vessel transfers, launches, and dock expansions.

Dry Dock Master Position Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience operating floating dry docks.
  • NAVSEA or DM consulting Certified Dock Master for floating dry docks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GHS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations, dock infrastructure, and vessel operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage teams and coordinate with stakeholders.
