Responsibilities:
Security staff at Meadows will patrol Meadows 1 and 2 as defined here to ensure the security of the facility and note any safety or maintenance conditions which would require attention.
Any property issued to you, such as keys, phones, radio, forms, reports, gas cards, or other equipment must be returned at the end of each shift. It is your responsibility to understand the equipment you use to perform your duties. Good care of any equipment that you use, as well as the conservative use of supplies, will benefit you and Allied Universal. If equipment is not working properly or appears unsafe, please notify your Supervisor immediately so that repairs or adjustments may be made. The improper, careless, negligent, destructive or unsafe use or operation of equipment can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
INTERIOR PATROLS
During interior patrols of the facility, Security Professionals should be checking for unauthorized individuals, doors found unlocked that should be locked or doors that are locked and should be unlocked, broken locks, non-operating lights, property damage and obvious safety issues, such as water spills. All such observations should be noted in your Daily Activity Report or Incident Report, or other designated reports, in addition to any verbal reports you make. When necessary, facility repair requests must be submitted.
Emergency access and egress is extremely important. If while patrolling, you find emergency access/exits locked or blocked (by furniture, boxes, trash, etc.), the Security Professional, if safe to do so, should:
Immediately remove any items from the emergency access/exit path
Deposit the items (trash empty boxes) in the appropriate place
Contact facility maintenance for removal of items (during business hours)
Notify your Supervisor of immovable items in emergency access/exit paths
Make an entry on the Daily Activity Report (DAR) noting what was found, where it was found and whether it was removed (and how).
In addition, look for hazards such as obvious spills or an obviously dangerous condition on the property. Such hazards may lead to slips and falls and other injuries. If you observe such a condition immediately report it to the appropriate person and warn others near the hazard.
On occasion, Security is asked to help employees reset their desktop computers. This is permitted if Patrol is only using the power button to turn on or restart the computer.
Notify the Command Center Operator (CCO) at the start and end of each tour and any time you need to step away from the desk. All such observations should be noted in your Daily Activity Report or Incident Report, or other designated reports, in addition to any verbal reports you make.
