The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) Business Area's (BA) Research Computing (RC) organization seeks high-performance computing (HPC) professionals to support its growing teams of scientists and engineers. The MDA RC organization is responsible for the design, development, deployment, security, operation, monitoring, management, and support of all computational hardware and software used for basic research, modeling and simulation, circuit design, and circuit testing. RC oversees multiple highly complex large compute clusters that are required in the daily work of users of diverse backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities. RC is searching for HPC operations, administration, and applications experts excited to learn new technologies and contribute to a highly dynamic organization. Responsibilities Monitor and maintain performance of network within a high-performance compute cluster Contribute to design of new high-performance compute clusters Diagnose and resolve acute network faults Interface with external network administrators to maintain system performance Assess and report on network-induced operational risks and propose mitigation strategies Configure networks to meet customer requirements Interface with user support staff to assess operational reality and adapt to needs as they arise Interface with HPC System Administrators to diagnose network limitations Monitor and maintain network hardware Basic Qualifications: Sr. Staff Network Engineer Bachelor’s degree with 14 years' relevant experience; 12 years' experience with a Master’s Degree; 10 years with PhD. Will consider 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree. Strong Linux (Red Hat) proficiency Strong knowledge and experience with concepts of network fabrics for high-performance computing applications Strong knowledge and experience maintaining compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) Strong knowledge and experience monitoring, maintaining, and benchmarking high-performance network hardware Experience directing technical work of a small team of Linux Systems Administrators Preferred Qualifications: Active TS/SCI with full-scope polygraph security clearance IAT Level II certification Experience with Cisco, InfiniBand, Slingshot, RoCE, and/or OmniPath network technologies Experience with MPI-based implementations Experience with parallel file systems.
