Leidos QTC Health Services seeks an AI/Machine Learning Director to lead a team of data scientists to leverage and design the organization’s enterprise data management framework for research purposes.
This position is responsible for developing and optimizing database models to store and retrieve information across applications within the company. The Data Scientist analyzes system and contractual requirements and design data models according to the required specifications. This position also works with database administrators and the data analytics team to ensure data can be extracted efficiently. This role will assist all lines of business and will be collaborating with subject matter experts from departments across the enterprise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and recruit new technical talent, to include development and mentoring mid to senior level technical staff
- Plan and manage skills development and training for team members.
- Monitor team performance and initiate action to remedy
- Responsible for the development, design and implementation of the AIML/NLP capabilities across LQTC.
- Responsible for creating and managing roadmaps for AIML/NLP enhancements across LQTC.
- Provide interface support between Leidos and QTC teams across AIML/NLP and innovate capabilities.
- Responsible for mining large public data sets with internal datasets for research purposes for use across current and growth campaigns.
- Designs and implements effective database solutions and models.
- Assesses database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.
- Recommends solutions to improve new and existing database systems. Improves data architecture by tracking emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements.
- Responsible for defining and creating data flows.
- Oversees the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Audits databases regularly to maintain quality standards.
- Prepares detailed reports for management and other departments by analyzing and interpreting data.
- Works collaboratively with System architects, Business stakeholders, and clients for operational efficiency opportunities.
- Provides Data Governance across enterprise workflows for performance reporting and quality management.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Competencies:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills
- Influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations requiring a well-developed sense of strategy

- Proficiency with data mining, NLP and use of machine learning methods required
- Solid knowledge of database structure systems with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence toolsets and development skills
- Solid knowledge in SQL, Oracle, and data visualization tools.
- Solid knowledge in Tableau, Java, JavaScript, C, C++, R, Python, etc.
- Understanding of various relational and non-relational database technologies and design
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective time management and operates with a sense of urgency
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses)
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or a related discipline w/ 14 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience managing/leading teams or projects
- Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
