The CFT supports the operation and maintenance of critical and non-critical data center infrastructure, focusing on safety, reliability, and efficiency. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing data center infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
  • Help build a skilled CFT team to ensure 100% availability and risk minimization.
  • Monitor and manage power, cooling capacity, and environmental conditions in data halls.
  • Work rotating shifts to support 24x7 operations, including on-call emergency response.
  • Resolve electrical, mechanical, and fire protection system issues, communicating updates to management and clients.
  • Coordinate construction, commissioning, and transition to sustainable operations.
  • Review maintenance results and ensure actionable follow-ups.
  • Oversee accuracy and usage of the CMMS for scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
  • Enforce SLAs, change controls, and operational standards.
  • Schedule and oversee work by contractors and vendors.
  • Manage client relationships and provide strategic solutions to facility challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and cost estimation.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Critical Facilities Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 3-5 years of mission-critical experience required.
  • 1+ years managing non-exempt, shift-based employees.
  • Knowledge of colocation data centers preferred.
  • Familiarity with technical schools or military operations a plus.

Key Competencies

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, resource planning, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Expertise in electrical, mechanical, and technical facilities systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, service catalogs, and SLAs.
  • Transparent and service-oriented, with a proactive attitude and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and operate within varied physical environments.
  • Capacity for occasional heavy lifting and maintaining physical mobility in demanding situations.
