Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an experienced, senior-level Software Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting our Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU). This role is for the Mission Processing Thread Lead who leads a group of systems and software engineers developing mission processing solutions across multiple Ground programs. What you’ll get to do: As a Software Engineer on this team, you will lead a large team of teams developing, testing, and deploying a software system focused on mission processing. You will also verify and validate requirements for a Ground Segment. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized. We have multiple Systems and Software Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program. This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities. The successful candidate will have broad Systems and Software Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to manage changes and present options for managing scope and dependencies to the technical and management teams in concise briefings. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment and to be highly self-motivated. The ideal candidate is a leader who is experienced leading other Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads and who excels in keeping the program management and the customer informed. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions, and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow. This position will be located at either our Aurora, Colorado or our Morrisville, North Carolina locations. This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work. (Compensation varies per location) Basic Qualifications Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance AND a favorably adjudicated polygraph at time of application Minimum years of experience needed to be considered: 12 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's 10 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's 8 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. 14 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree 16 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required) Must have experience on all of the below: Experience in leading large, geographically dispersed teams Experience building teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with Agile development Experience with effectively managing, communicating, and presenting technical roadmaps and technical subjects to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers Experience managing technical dependencies across teams Experienced leading a software development team or team of systems engineers supporting software development. Preferred Qualifications STEM degree Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment design Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) languages (SysML/UML) and concepts Experience with Cameo Experience with Cloud technologies Experience with requirements verification To better support our employee’s work/life balance, most NG worksites support a 9/80 work schedule.
