The Johns Hopkins Hospital - The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 28 bed-unit that provides comprehensive medical and surgical intensive care for children from birth to 21 years old. The PICU is Maryland's only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and state-designated pediatric burn ICU for children up to 15 years of age. Medical diagnoses include respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multiiorgan failure, shock, toxic ingestions, and neonatal and pediatric ECMO. Surgeries include extensive general, cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, and neurologic procedures.

The Lead Clinical Nurse (LCN) provides guidance and direction to staff and acts in the absence of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager to oversee a clinical team during care delivery and unit operations. The LCN has the ability to lead others, assist in development & implementation of procedures for the unit, use principles of conflict resolution, recommend resource utilization, and implement performance management of staff.

Shifts: 12 hour permanent night shift

Who Should Apply:

  • BSN/MSN required
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of acute care RN work experience; pediatric experience preferred
