Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our dynamic Cardiac Surgery ICU (CVSICU) team. This full-time position provides a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in an exciting and fast-paced environment. As part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in the management of complex cardiac surgical patients, providing both acute and ongoing care across various shifts.
Schedule:
• 50/50 Day/Off Shifts
• Includes weekends, nights, and holidays
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU, providing comprehensive care tailored to the needs of each patient.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the latest clinical guidelines, and continuously monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions.
• Perform essential invasive procedures such as central line placement, arterial line insertion, chest tube placement, and other procedures as required by the clinical situation.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them understand the patient's condition, treatment plan, and expected outcomes. Guide them through discharge planning and follow-up care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing patient outcomes in the ICU. Collaborate in research projects to further enhance clinical care and nursing practices in the cardiac critical care environment.
• Support the training and mentorship of new staff, including residents, fellows, and other advanced practice providers, ensuring clinical knowledge is shared and best practices are upheld.
• Stay updated with the latest evidence-based practices in cardiovascular critical care and acute care management, continuously enhancing clinical competencies.
Requirements:
• Current licensure as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in the state of Maryland.
• Graduation from an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
• Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC).
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in critical care, preferably within a cardiovascular surgical ICU or similar high-acuity setting.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make independent decisions in complex, fast-paced situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers.
• Proficiency in performing invasive procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes, or a willingness to develop these skills through clinical training.
• A commitment to continuous learning and a passion for advancing patient care through evidence-based practices.
