Clinical Technicians at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have the opportunity to provide highly skilled and compassionate patient- and family-centered care as contributing members of the healthcare team. Ongoing education is provided to all Clinical Technicians to ensure that all techs perform at the highest level of their certification and scope of practice. During your first year, you will have the opportunity to attend eight days of training off the unit, which provide interactive learning activities to support your personal and professional development.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital- The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 28-bed unit that provides comprehensive medical and surgical intensive care for children from birth to 21 years old. The PICU is Maryland’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and state-designated pediatric burn ICU for children up to 15 years of age. Medical diagnoses include respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multiorgan failure, shock, toxic ingestions, and neonatal and pediatric ECMO. Surgeries include extensive general, cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, and neurologic procedures.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • One year of clinical experience e.g., home care, outpatient, acute care (hospital preferred) technician experience during the most recent two years in a setting relevant to the unit; volunteer work as EMT or CRT may be considered.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Nursing Assistant Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing required.
  • Current CPR certification

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37 per hour - Maximum 26.13 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
