The Johns Hopkins Hospital- The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 28-bed unit that provides comprehensive medical and surgical intensive care for children from birth to 21 years old. The PICU is Maryland’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and state-designated pediatric burn ICU for children up to 15 years of age. Medical diagnoses include respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multiorgan failure, shock, toxic ingestions, and neonatal and pediatric ECMO. Fellowship Details:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit RN Fellowship Program is a customized 14-week competency-driven, immersive clinical and educational experience. The goal of this program is focused on providing professional nurses with a minimum of one year of practice with the adult or pediatric population to pursue their desire to become a pediatric ICU nurse. This program will teach the participant everything needed to become a successful pediatric ICU nurse. Participants will work closely with coordinators, unit educators, clinical experts, preceptors, faculty, and multidisciplinary team members. Courses are designed around a blended-learning curriculum, which combines a variety of teaching methods including: Web-based learning, lectures, skills practice, case studies, reflective practice, simulation, and clinical immersion with preceptorship. All course work and part of precepted time will occur during daytime hours prior to transitioning to rotating day/night or permanent night shift. This structured curriculum approach allows the participants to transition from adult or pediatric care while they are receiving support in their professional growth. This program provides emotional, psychosocial, and environmental support in an individualized manner for each participant.

Who Should Apply:

Salary Range: Minimum 36.31 per hour - Maximum 56.28 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
