Shift:

Position Summary:

Assist physicians in performing invasive procedures, coordinating care in an assigned room, and providing patient care. Responsible for optimizing team performance by participating as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team.

Education:

Graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology required. AA degree preferred.

Work Experience:

No direct cardiology experience required

Required Licensure, Certification:

Must be licensed by the State of Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance as a Radiology Technologist. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

CVRT I: Current BLS/ACLS Certification required within 1 year from the end of orientation date. Advanced certification is encouraged. Must pass JHH Arrhythmia Course and Exam before recording independently

CVRT II: Current BLS/ACLS Certification required. CI or CV registry is encouraged, in Electrophysiology, RCES registry and HRS certification is encouraged. Current PALS

Certification is required if in pediatric cardiology. Must pass the JHH Arrhythmia Recognition exam annually.

Knowledge/Skills:

Possesses knowledge of anatomy and physiology within the specialty of Diagnostic/Interventional Cardiology and/or Electrophysiology.

Proficient in correlating radiographic and hemodynamic findings with the associated disease processes.

For Electrophysiology, the ability to correlate the surface ECG and intracardiac ecg’s with advanced arrhythmias and to correlate the arrhythmias with cardiac anatomy. Anticipates supplies and imaging modalities that may be needed during the procedures.

CVRT I Orientation will include:

Operation of all radiographic and ancillary equipment within discipline.

Knowledge of all guidewires, catheters and ablation systems.

Learning to utilize the imaging techniques to provide diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for specific cardiac procedures. Acquiring skills to eventually direct a team or oversee daily patient flow operations. Must possess highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal team performance and quality patient care.

CVRT I & II:

Independently operates all radiographic and ancillary equipment within discipline.

Possesses extensive knowledge of all guidewires, catheters and ablation systems.

Utilizes imaging techniques which provide diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for specific cardiac procedures.

Demonstrates skills to effectively direct a team or oversee daily patient flow operations.

Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal team performance and quality patient care.

Possesses the knowledge of basic PC skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, and email.
