Summary:

As a Respiratory Specialist, you are responsible for providing direct advanced respiratory clinical care, special procedures, shift leader coverage, and support to advanced practices and respiratory initiatives, as directed by the dept director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: superuser for new equipment; maintaining competency in all intensive care units including neonatal ICU and for all age ranges, including, but not limited to: emergency room; Rapid Response Team, Trauma Team, and Code Team; LMA skills support. Has a primary focus on high acuity patients, low volume/high risk procedures, and advanced respiratory assessments. Other projects and duties per dept director are identified annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Practitioner program
  • Must be a graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Minimum of five years of full-time respiratory work experience

Licensure/Certification:

  • Graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission For The Accreditation Of Respiratory Care Education (CoARC).
  • A bachelor’s degree in respiratory care degree is required.
  • Must be a Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist for the state of Maryland.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be able to understand medical terminology, medical anatomy and physiology and to effectively convey this information in written and verbal format to others.
  • Strong understanding of pulmonary anatomy and physiology relative to the tests performed.
  • Should be mechanically inclined with good manual dexterity for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Salary Range: Minimum 38.41 per hour - Maximum 63.42 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
