We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 1 based out of Baltimore, MD. As a Systems Engineering Manager 1 at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter.  Our success is grounded in our ability to embrace change, move quickly and continuously drive innovation. 

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance for the Field Engineering team. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for leading, developing and directing a geographically diverse technical team supporting both the Longbow and B1 product lines. This position requires that the manager establishes and maintains effective management oversight and customer communications on various program efforts.  A radar operations and maintenance and systems integration background would be beneficial for this position.

Technical responsibilities will include supporting on-going system sustainment and product development operations based in Baltimore with field locations in both domestic and international locations. Long term growth in our Longbow operations is expected.

The candidate will work closely with managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors, program managers and the NGC Global Mobility Office. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Job Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, individual contributors and customers
  • Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams on complex technical project
  • Ability and willingness to travel which could include foreign travel. Overall travel is expected to be 10% or less for specific events as they are required.
  • Clearance: Candidate must be a US citizen and currently have, and be able to maintain an active/current U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Experience in/with global Field Engineering operations
  • Prior Experience with Longbow and B1 radar sensors and platforms
  • IPT Lead/Cost Account Management experience
Salary Range: $124,000 - $186,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
