Job Description:

​Under general supervision of Manager, Chief Technologist (as applicable), and under the direction of a radiologist, can perform Nuclear Medicine procedures on infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients on designated areas of the body as requested by a physician.  Understands and follows all licensures and requirements mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the State of Massachusetts. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • In Conjunction with the hospital’s physicist performs and maintains the appropriate Quality Control tests as listed in the State license and appropriate departmental logs.
  • Informs Chief Technologist, Site manager, or Administrative Director of equipment malfunctions, initiates service call, and documents date, time and service follow-up in log book.
  • Revises all policies and procedures and Nuclear Medicine operational manuals as changes occur.
  • Checks and updates the Nuclear Medicine Disaster Cart on routine basis.
  • Conduct quality control activities and document appropriately.
  • Responds to phone messages and e-mail in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that any patient or physician concerns, staffing/personnel, problems, and safety issues are properly communicated to the chief technologist.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain appropriate inventory control records, and orders supplies to maintain monthly operation.
  • s able to assist the chief technologist in preparing for all inspections.
  • Attends Radiation Safety meetings 2 times/yr.
  • Ensures all department licenses are current.
  • Updates/inspects and cleans radiation contamination cart quarterly
  • Maintains records of doses, gm calibrations, shipments EPA reports, Therapy dose requirements, physicist reports and other required records.
  • Enters appropriate incidents on-line using Safe Spot.

Education/Experience:       

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an approved Nuclear Medicine program                                                                                                       

                                               

Certification/License:          

  • American Registry of Nuclear Medicine (CNMT) or, ARRT (NM) or registry eligible.
  • Massachusetts State License; renewed bi-annually.
  • BLS certified.
