About The Position
Wellhart is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position in Massachusetts. This 60-day assignment begins on June 8, 2025, at a multi-specialty clinic. The physician will work 12-hour shifts, covering both day and night, in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include managing a diverse range of emergency cases, supervising APPs, interpreting EKGs, responding to house codes (secondary to ED emergencies), and collaborating with various departments. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with high-volume emergency care, APP supervision, and working within a comprehensive healthcare system.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide emergency medical care to patients of all ages and conditions
- Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Interpret EKGs and other diagnostic tests
- Respond to house codes as part of the response team (secondary to ED emergencies)
- Collaborate with hospitalists for patient admissions
- Manage and prioritize multiple patients in a high-volume ED
- Oversee paramedic/ambulance communications
- Utilize the Epic electronic medical record system for documentation
- Participate in patient transfers and referrals as needed
- Adhere to 30-minute or less response time for on-call situations
- Work effectively with radiology, laboratory, blood bank, OR, and anesthesia departments
- Contribute to the management of the fast track area, which handles 40% of ED volume
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency medicine practices and protocols
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards
Additional Information:
- Must be licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine required
- Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system preferred
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills for APP supervision
- Ability to adapt to varying patient volumes and acuity levels
- Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
