Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated research associate level technician to report into Takeda’s Structural Biology organization. In collaboration with structural biology personnel, this person will participate in managing crystallization and cryoEM laboratories, including operation of crystallization robotics and software systems as well as ensuring laboratory safety compliance, consumable materials stocking and equipment maintenance are met.
The successful candidate be responsible for the following:
- Management of multiple laboratory spaces utilizing specialized structural biology equipment (crystallization robotics and cryoEM instrumentation)
- Coordinate with Takeda research support groups to ensure all laboratory operations needs are met, including all laboratory safety requirements and waste management, consumable needs and instrument maintenance
- Coordination of shipping, receiving and storage of laboratory samples, including protein samples and cold storage (LN2) dewars
- With on-site training, independently operate crystallization robotics systems, including liquid handlers, imagers, sample hotels and automation arms and ensure documentation of experiments in LIMS systems and electronic notebooks
Desired qualifications include:
- BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Robotics or related field with 1+ years of industry experience or Associate degree / college credits with 5+ years of industry experience in lab operations or laboratory research
- MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Robotics or related field or BS with 2+ years relevant experience in lab operations or laboratory research
- Demonstrated aptitude, experience and technical proficiency with laboratory equipment and/or robotic instruments, including setup, configuration, maintenance, software and operational validation.
- Ability to maintain a high level of engagement in daily operational activities; multitasking capabilities and engagement across departments essential
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications required; experience with instrument control application software, LIMS systems (ie, sample inventory, data repositories), and/or electronic laboratory notebooks highly desirable
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills
- DOT, RCRA, and IATA training a plus
- Interested in learning operation and maintenance of state of-the-art crystallization robotics systems to support multiple scientists and pipeline programs

$67,900.00 - $106,700.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
