About The Position

Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens position at a hospital in Massachusetts. Starting on 05/05/2025, this assignment offers a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an inpatient setting, providing care for patients with severe mental health conditions and acute psychiatric needs. This role utilizes the Cerner EMR system and offers the potential for extension beyond the initial 120-day period.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments
• Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with severe mental health conditions
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
• Provide crisis intervention and management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Participate in treatment team meetings and care conferences
• Provide patient and family education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Cerner EMR system
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols
• Provide consultation to other healthcare providers as needed
• Stay current with best practices and evidence-based treatments in psychiatric care

Additional Information:

• Massachusetts nurse practitioner license required
• Board certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) preferred
• Experience in acute inpatient psychiatric care essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Potential for assignment extension
