Job Description

Objective / Purpose:

This new position within the Biologics Engineering & Antibody Discovery team of Global Biologics requires a driven, experienced, and agile scientist to contribute to the pipeline through high-throughput expression and purification of IgG and antibody formats from yeast (predominantly) and mammalian platforms. The successful candidate will bring a proactive mindset, technical expertise, and the ability to flex and learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • The role requires depth of knowledge in methodologies of biologics production, particularly in yeast, and the ability to manage and optimize expression and purification processes and workflows while wholly aware of critical steps in the protocol.
  • A strong emphasis on agility, adapting to shifting project needs, and enhancing high-throughput workflows through the effective use of automation platforms (such as Hamilton and Lynx).
  • The role plays a critical part in identifying and streamlining workflows, ensuring the efficient delivery of program goals, including flexibility in working hours to meet timelines.
  • Significant curiosity and ownership are needed to best understand the up and downstream workflows such that this role can work within the team to deliver accordingly.
  • Collaboration, strong organizational skills, and clear communication are essential to ensure smooth handoffs of data and materials across teams, contributing to successful project outcomes.

Accountabilities:                                                                                                                                        

  • Accountable for driving high-throughput yeast production of antibodies/biologics, ensuring efficient workflows and timely delivery. Flexes to work with mammalian HTP production team where needed.
  • Relevant experience in yeast fermentation, handling, and purification is preferred, with experience of mammalian systems nice to have.
  • Responsive to data, show agility and adaptability in adjusting workflows and working hours to meet deadlines.
  • Bring in-depth expertise in expression and purification systems, troubleshooting issues to ensure consistent molecule delivery for evaluation.
  • Lead a small team within a matrix environment, influencing and managing the work of others without direct reports.
  • Familiar and comfortable with the use and incorporation of automation, while closely working with automation team.
  • Share findings and updates with the antibody discovery team, working collaboratively to adapt strategies and workflows for desired outcomes.
  • Document experiments thoroughly using LIMS systems and communicate results within the team and cross-functional groups.
  • Manage time effectively, sharing project updates and plans with oversight from the manager or project representative.
  • Proactively identify and investigate issues, recommending solutions to meet project objectives.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing across teams, bringing expertise from cross-functional projects to improve biologics discovery and engineering processes.

Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
 

  • MS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 3+ years relevant experience, of BS with 5+ years relevant experience
  • Needs to have a proven track record of excellent problem-solving and high-throughput antibody production (preferably yeast).
  • Full proficiency with automation platforms, examples could be Hamilton and Lynx. Ability to troubleshoot and write new methods is a plus.
  • Knowledge of protein purification and improving high-throughput workflows.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$96,600.00 - $151,800.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
