Job Summary
Howmet Aerospace - Branford, CT is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a Quality Technician. This position will monitor product, processes, and quality systems at Branford Operations to assure compliance with Howmet and customer requirements.
Essential Functions
- Analyze products and processes at various intervals of production utilizing statistics and compliance audit techniques.
- Coordinates corrective actions and the control and submittal of MRB across the operation. Helps solicit concession responses from customers.
- Facilitates activities and communication with the plant’s Met Lab team.
- Facilitates review, training and activities with the plant’s Inspection team.
- Works with plant team to resolve quality issues
Job Responsibilities
- Efficient preparation, evaluation & overview of product/paperwork to certify shipments.
- Work with Process Engineering and Quality Engineering in purchase order review and resolution.
- Develop cause and corrective action and supporting reports and data in support of customer requirements.
- Tracks MRB and customer response to non-conforming product.
- Preparation of customer documents for nonconforming hardware.
- Creates Non-Conforming part and component (QR) reports and paperwork required for customer disposition.
- Preparation of FAIR’s.
- Assist the Quality Engineer in the writing and revising of Inspection PMS’s.
- Prepares for and supports internal/external audits (NADCAP, etc.), in compliance to customer requirements.
- Provides quality performance updates to customers.
- Periodically verifies gages/equipment have been properly cycled through the calibration process.
- Act as a facilitator to the Met Lab to help ensure the following:
- Sample part routers are brought down to shipping and billed on a weekly basis
- Communication between the lab and inspection for any issues which come up
- Assist in the prioritizing of Metlab tasks such that they align with production goals
- Assurance that monthly, quarterly, and annual testing and checks are performed
- Communication with management team of significant MRB activity or drifting results
- Coordination with maintenance team to ensure equipment is running properly
- Assist with the inspection team to ensure the following:
- Training matrices are up to date and that any additional training is performed
- Cross training of inspection team such that all inspectors can perform all tasks
- Provide technical assistance to inspection team with specification searching and interpretation as needed
- Semiweekly communication and summary of all MRB such that it is visible to management staff and that quick corrective action can be achieved
- Recommend and provide additional training as needed
- Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wears protective equipment as directed.
- Keep work area clean according to 6S standards.
- Perform other job duties as needed or directed by management.

Basic QualificationsÂ
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two-years experience performing quality tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as Quality Technician, Inspector, or Quality Auditor in a manufacturing environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with and creating PFEMA and First Article of Inspection
- Designated Supplier Quality Representative (DSQR) experience
- Experience working in an ISO environment, preferably AS9100, and conducting internal audits.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and teamwork skills.
