Reports To: Executive Director

Summary: The Lifestyle Director is a key member of the department head team and is responsible for leading, developing, coordinating, and implementing activities, programs and events that optimize quality of life for our residents, enhance health and wellbeing and promote social connection and engagement. Maplewood Lifestyle Directors incorporate social, physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and purposeful activities and programs to meet the comprehensive and multidimensional needs and interests of our residents. At Maplewood, we build our 9 Essential Elements of Wellbeing which include: Engagement, Intentional Living, Movement, The Arts, Community, Family, Brain Health, Energized Environments and Laughter into our lifestyle programs.聽

Key Responsibilities:

Management

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, directs and evaluates Lifestyle Associates.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrates excellent organization and time management skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures all Lifestyle programs meet Maplewood quality standards

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with Senior Lifestyle Directors and other LSDs to implement established best practices in Lifestyle Programming

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains monthly budget

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Completes monthly schedule for all Lifestyle associates in UKG to budget shift requirements

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Attends all necessary meetings including daily standups, weekly Department Head Meetings, monthly All-Associate Meetings, and bi-weekly LSD meetings facilitated by home office

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with your ED and HR on any necessary progressive discipline actions

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures all supplies are neatly organized and inventory is tracked

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Works with vendors to coordinate and host elevated and exceptional programs for residents, families and staff

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with other department heads to coordinate and manage Dining Committee Meetings, and Resident Council.

Care, Service Plans, and Wellness

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with resident care and memory care teams to review and contribute residents' service plans as necessary

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in and contribute to tracking meetings, family meetings and case conferences

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures our 9 Core Elements of Wellness are incorporated into weekly lifestyle programs

Staff Training

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures all new Lifestyle associates are properly orientation and trained and all Lifestyle associates continue to receive appropriate training and support to optimize their ability to work with our resident population

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures monthly in-service education, including dementia training, is provided to all Lifestyle Associates`

Recreation, Activities, Events and Lifestyle Programs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Designs and implements high quality monthly program calendars tailored to residents' abilities, interests, hobbies, religions, and desired experiences.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures programs, events and activities align with Maplewood鈥檚 9 Lifestyle Elements (Engagement, Intentional living, movement for wellness, enriching arts, sense of community, family connection, brain health, energized environments, and shared laughter).

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Plans, conducts, and monitors recreational programs that cater to all residents' needs and abilities.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coordinates transportation for outings and events, including driving community vehicles when required.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Plans special events and family gatherings.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains resident profile information and utilizes it to create personalized Lifestyle Programs.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with the Resident Care team for WISH Program and parallel activities for residents with special needs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures adequate program supplies and purchases adaptive supplies as needed.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Fosters a seven-day-a-week activity program, including evenings and holidays.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with other Directors to ensure the recreational and social needs of all residents are addressed

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In coordination with the Culinary Service Director, ensures proper nutrition, snacks and hydration are provided throughout the day as part of a healthy lifestyle

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures daily afternoon social or Happy hour is provided

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Holds a monthly Activity Committee Meeting to provide residents an opportunity to give input into the monthly calendar of events.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Meets with residents and families to identify resident interests, resolve concerns, and develop meaningful relationships

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitors the response and/or review/evaluate the response to the programs and determine if the activities meet the assed needs of each resident

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures annual Maplewood themed programming has been included on monthly calendar and is being held

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops intergenerational programs and a pet therapy program

Volunteers

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implements volunteer program which includes recruitment, interviewing, training and annual recognition.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implements community policy regarding volunteers.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Trains all volunteers who will working the memory care neighborhood in dementia care.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implements volunteer schedule.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops and implements intergenerational program with local organizations, schools and clubs.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops and implements a volunteer pet therapy program that follow all state and local government rules regarding pets.

Communication and Sales

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in marketing and communication efforts including owning digital signage

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in tours and other sales efforts as appropriate

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops and distribute monthly, weekly and daily calendars and newsletters digitally and in print

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Establishes and maintains relationships with community agencies, organizations, and healthcare professionals.

Technology

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops competency in using each product in Maplewood鈥檚 Catalyst Technology Suite

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures all Catalyst technology platforms (LifeLoop, Rendever, Eversound, Sentrics etc.) are in good working condition and are utilized regularly

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops and implements regularly scheduled Catalyst technology training sessions for staff and classes for residents

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates with Catalyst Technology Suite vendors on optimal use of their products, including best practices

Compliance, Safety, and Vehicle

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures compliance with state, federal, and other regulations related to therapeutic recreation programming.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Follows emergency procedures and implement safety practices and procedures.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In collaboration with Memory Care Director, captures resident photos upon move-in and maintain Schedule K Binder.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains documentation for company vehicles and handle accident reports.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coordinates scheduled maintenance for community vehicles.

Miscellaneous

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides exceptional customer service to residents, family members, visitors, and responsible persons.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cultivates a sincere passion for working with the senior population and promote a positive atmosphere.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Is able to perform physical tasks, including lifting and assisting residents.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 An associate degree from an accredited college or university or satisfactory completion of two years of college, with major work in recreation, occupational therapy, gerontology or a related field, or two years of full-time experience in the recreation field with an adult population

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must possess a passion for working with the senior population and improving their quality of life

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Basic typing skills and computer knowledge; familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Teams and creative software

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Valid driver鈥檚 license with good driving record. May be required to take a driving test
