Overview:

Manages the repair and maintenance of ride electrical and controls, facility electrical distribution system, facility lighting, emergency power systems, energy management system, and other electrical systems within a major theme park. Assists in the preparation and administration of the departmental budgets and orders parts as required. Manages staff and schedules as required to meet specific business needs. Provides technical leadership to the Electrical Department.

 

Salary Details: $89,738 - $119,650/yr., based on experience 


Responsibilities:
  • Manages and leads the Electrical Maintenance Department of a large amusement park, aquatic park, facility and ride electrical/controls systems. The Electrical Department consists of electrician’s facility/ride, electronics, ride control technicians.
  • Plans and directs the work of staff including training, assigning, planning, and reviewing work, evaluating work performance, coordinating activities, maintaining standards, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, acting on employee problems. Manage department staff within the work force. Including coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division. Identify and develop Crew Leaders.
  • Schedules employees and assigns tasks according to business needs. Coordinates work on multi-craft and multi-divisional projects such as special events involving electrical items. Helps to plan and develop preventative maintenance and job plans
  • Provides support and technical leadership to the electronics shop in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming and upgrading of complex audio and lighting control systems. Supports and provides leadership in ride control  the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming and upgrading control systems.
  • Provides technical leadership in the repair and maintenance of AC and DC motors and motor controls, including drive systems exceeding 300 horsepower.  Provides technical leadership, predictive, and preventative maintenance, in multi-voltage and multi-phase electrical distribution systems. Provides technical leadership to the department in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming and upgrading of complex PLC-based control systems.
  • Manages lighting maintenance throughout a large complex of buildings, rides, restaurants, parking lots, and other facilities. Proactively researches and provides energy efficient lighting as well as providing the proper type of show lighting for a given environment or theme.
  • Develop and accurately maintain budgets for all assigned departmental responsibilities.  Must have a good understanding of modern business practices and procedures, business letter writing and elements of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation and mathematics. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desired. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others is a must.
  • Solicits and negotiates agreements for electrical outside services, such as infrared testing, transformer testing, and switchgear maintenance.  Orders parts and supplies in accordance with established company budgets and guidelines.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Six Flags and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Qualifications:
  • Associates degree / vocational or technical school, with an emphasis in electrical, preferred. 
  • C-10 Electrical Contractor License preferred.
  • Licensed electrician preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • At least 10 years of relevant electrical work experience required
  • At least 5 years of prior leadership/supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AC and DC variable speed drives and controllers. Demonstrated proficiency with PLCs and their associated hardware and software. Ability to effectively and safely troubleshoot and repair a variety of AC and DC electrical systems ranging from 4160VAC to 12VDC. Extensive knowledge of industry standards and NFPA and NEC code requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with Programmable Logic Controllers and their associated hardware and software, preferably Allen-Bradley PLCs and RS Logix Software.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays due to business needs.
