Overview:

The Vice President, Maintenance is responsible for all aspects of facility and rides maintenance and construction at Knott's Berry Farm and Knott's Soak City Buena Park.

   

Salary Details: $182,000 - $214,760/yr., based on relevant experience 


Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to the Maintenance and Construction Division at Knott's Berry Farm. Communicate with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts. Utilize various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Meet weekly with department Supervision who direct department activities to insure cross divisional/department coordination and to ensure those activities are aligned with local and corporate goals and objectives, and all Six Flags policies. Ensure all responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities are defined and understood.
  • Ensure the continued safety of Guests and Employees while visiting or working at the Park and all associated facilities. Develop and implement safety procedures and policies adhering to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the company and various regulatory agencies. Correct safety concerns and train staff as required to promote a safe and clean workplace Ensure ongoing compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company rules and regulations. Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all Rides, Seasonal Events, Attractions and Infrastructure by providing appropriate planning, maintenance, and repair. Establish overall guest standards and policies for operating division, encouraging innovations in providing guest service and improving the overall guest experience; promote excellence in guest service with all levels of staff; respond to and resolve the most complex guest issues. Ensure all departments are aligned to support the park seasonal offerings. Oversee daily operations.
  • Propose, develop, implement and monitor Maintenance and Capital budgets. Develop budget for areas of responsibility to meet overall organization goals of revenue production, cost containment and overall profitability. Oversee both Capital and Expense P&L budgets and forecasts and ensures they are accurate and in alignment with short- and long-term business and financial objectives. Analyzes over capital and operating expenditures.
  • Work in collaboration with other Six Flags Properties as needed. Coordinating across sites and driving or participating in corporate goals and objective creation and implementation. Ensure consistency is adhered to based on standards developed by Six Flags.
  • Communicates with local, State and Federal regulatory and governmental agencies through a number of vehicles including verbal and written communications.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of a large and diverse staff including recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, assignment of tasks, and disciplinary actions both directly and through subordinates in order to maintain a safe, effective and efficient workforce.  Develop departmental staff to ensure continuity and personal growth of divisional leadership.  Creates, modifies and ensure the organizational structure possesses the necessary talent, processes, training and development to manage the organizations current activities and is positioned well for growth projections.   Provide recognition and appreciation of the maintenance division staff on a continual basis to maintain the positive moral of the workgroup.
  • Propose and implement Capital Asset Maintenance and Infrastructure Maintenance projects on a continual basis.. Negotiate all contract agreements for division vendors and work in conjunction with XDS, Corporate Legal, Knott’s VP of Finance, Corporate VP of Maintenance, Corporate Safety and Operations, and the General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm for Capital Expenditure contracts and other large contracts.
  • Use strategic and innovative thinking to guide and directs teams in concept development, production, promotion and financial stability of the organization’s entertainment experiences, associate courtesy and service standards, show and cleanliness standards and other products and services that drive a superior Guest experience. Oversee the creation and adherence to standards for park assets, from a design, construction, and maintenance perspective to ensure park standards are implemented and adhered to.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in Business Administration/Industrial Tech required. An emphasis in Engineering or a closely related field, preferred.
  • At least 10+ years of related work experience preferred.
  • A Valid Driver's License.
  • Up to 5% of business travel is required.
  • At least 5+ years of management/leadership experience required.
  • General Knowledge of engineering principles and bio-dynamics, understanding of ASTM and California DOSH regs related to amusement rides, extensive knowledge of construction and maintenance and codes. Familiarity with all applicable safety.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Amusement Industry and all applicable codes, standards, and common practices. Education or experience in engineering or industrial maintenance.
